Jakarta - Tak lama setelah Pixel 6 dan 6 Pro dirilis, muncul rumor penerus chip Tensor yang dipakai di kedua ponsel tersebut. Rumor ini berasal dari source code Android yang ada di Pixel 6, yang menyebutkan Tensor generasi kedua dari kode 'Cloudripper', demikian dikutip detikINET dari GSM Arena, Rabu (3/10/2021).
Cloudripper ini dipercaya bukanlah nama dari chip penerus Tensor ataupun nama dari Pixel 7. Kemungkinan besar Cloudripper ini adalah nama dari platform yang dipakai untuk menguji chip penerus Tensor itu, yang punya nomor model GS201, sementara Tensor nomor model GS101.
Belum ada informasi lebih detail mengenai GS201 ini, mengingat Google baru saja merilis Pixel 6, dan Pixel 7 yang bakal memakai chip GS201 baru akan dirilis setahun ke depan.
Sebelumnya diberitakan, Google tak memakai system on a chip (SoC) Qualcomm di Pixel 6 dan 6 Pro, dan menggunakan chip Tensor yang mereka desain sendiri.
Setelah Pixel 6 dan 6 Pro dirilis, spesifikasinya akhirnya terungkap juga. Tensor dibuat menggunakan proses 5nm dan mempunyai delapan core, yang terbagi menjadi besar, menengah, dan kecil.
Core besarnya (atau kencang) ada dua, yaitu Cortex-X1 2,8GHz, lebih banyak ketimbang Snapdragon 888 yang cuma punya satu Cortex-X1. Lalu di bawahnya ada dua Cortex-A76 2,25GHz, dan empat Cortex-A55 1,8GHz.
Tensor didesain bersama dengan Google Research, yang artinya Google bisa membenamkan platform AI/ML ke dalam SoC tersebut. Menurut Google, kehadiran ML ini membuat Tensor punya kemampuan baru, seperti Motion Mode, Face Unblur, Speech enhancement mode, dan pengaplikasian HDRnet ke video (sampai dengan 4K60).
SoC ini juga diklaim punya sistem pengenalan kata-kata yang paling akurat, dan bisa dipakai di banyak aplikasi. Contohnya Recorder dan Live Caption dan tanpa menyedot daya baterai terlalu banyak.
Fitur Live Translate pun diotaki oleh Tensor, yang membuat pesan di WhatsApp misalnya, bisa diterjemahkan secara langsung. Live Translate pun bisa menerjemahkan kata-kata dari video.
